Runway show - SFW Montreal

-

Our next stop with SFW Montreal is finally here! Yes, I am speaking now about the exciting runway show where I saw remarkable creations and was closer to the designers' personalities. This is exactly the reason why I love fashion - everybody has a different point of view and I find really fascinating to watch their unique interpretations of it. It is not only about the clothes they made, it is about their self-expression, as well.

Thanks to Jodi Goodfellow, Nikole Mutombo, Aimon Syeda and the whole team I enjoyed this night so much. I want also to point out the work of the hair & makeup artists - Rachel Schultz cosmetiques and JACQUES DESPARS and charismatic models. Somebody could say that when you are going to attend some fashion show, the clothes are the most (if not the only one) thing that is really interesting for you. That is a pitty because I think every detail really matters! Imagine catwalks without models, imagine models without amazing makeup and hairstyles. Everything just comes together!

I also want to share with you one interesting fact I have noticed here in Canada. I have already mentioned something about it in my previous article here, but I must say something to it, again. I was truly amazed how friendly were the people I met there. To be honest, I was little bit shocked because, you know, fashion world is also full of selfish and heartless people who see you only as a rival. During the whole fashion runway, I was standing in a media pit together with other photographers trying to take great photos and they were so kind! We chatted a little bit, we laughed and I felt very good in their company, even though everyone of us wanted to have the best spot and the best photos. I love the fact people do not forget to be people here. Also I did not expect that people will recognize me, they will want to chat with me, they will love my work and it all will be sincere.

Now some of you could just say: "But this is a normal thing, people are not necessarily bad, where are you from, girl?" My answer is - I am from the real world, where people are often kind to you only when they have a profit from it or they are so competetive that they are more focusing on damaging their rivals instead of just trying to be better. In other words: "Competition is not a bad thing because thanks to it we can be better. We just should  respect each other more and put our energy into achieving our own goals, instead of creating plans how to destroy the others."

But back to the point - the whole fashion show was divided into four parts: Apparel Designers, Mini Collections, Wearable Tech and Wearable Art. Now is time to show you my the most favourite designs! Enjoy it!

BEVERLY (Wearable Art)

BEVERLY is a Toronto-based fashion label that launched in 2018. Its designer Beverly Tse is a person who likes to experiment a lot. I had an opportunity to speak with her personally and I admire her imagination and determination of designing these one-of-a-kind pieces that challenge the traditional values of fashion thanks to using unconventional materials and methods. Her debut collection called Metamorphosis includes man-made materials such as plastics, window blinds, suction cups or vacuum bags and she manipulated them into fashion garments! Her creations will let you think "outside of the box" and thanks to Beverly you will realize that fashion has no limits!

Tap2Tag (Wearable Tech)

What I appreciated the most about this event was that you could see various transformations of fashion - from the artistic version to the tech one. It is not only about clothes, but also an art and technology present all around us. Tap2Tag is dedicated to finding new ways of helping people get in touch using emerging technology. They provide many products which could monitor your health, help you with navigation or even networking and presenting yourself! You could wear them as comfortable wristbands and take them with you wherever you want!

EMY ARMOR

First time I met Bianca Cordileone,  founder and designer of this brand based in Montreal, at the Fashion of Business Conference, where I admired her outfit. I was impressed by jewellery she was wearing and I could not stop looking at her. After her speech I started to see her differently than just a well-dressed woman. Bianca is one of my favourite designers of this fashion show because she definitely has changed the status of jewellery - it is no more just an accessory for me. I also love the way she connect some parts of clothes with accessories - notice the cute satin hood design!

Colours of the Sky

Do you want to know what does the real woman's confidence look like? Take a look at the models of this swimwear brand by Vireil Mesidor and you will surely understand! They were so sexy and beautiful! Every one of them has a different body shape and I just love them all. Ideal woman with ideal shapes does not exist, but the woman who is satisfied with her body and feels sexy is pretty close to become flawless! This label is inspired by confident women, sun and caribbean islands where people are optimistic, feel relaxed and enjoy every minute! Except for great choice of used colours I adored  the seductive cutout silhouettes, as well.

Ageselao

Inspired by ancient Greece and modern society, founder and designer Selo Karakatsanis wants to bring to the urban consumer something more than just clothes. At the first sight, his original designs could look simple to someone, but when you are observing his creations more closely, you will realize that Selo's mission is to reflect the past while still keeping up with today's streetstyle by using the modern cuts and mixing black and grey colours. Plus, all garments are made from sustainable farmed organic cotton and hemp, along with Spandex to ensure comfort and functionality for the wearer!

MALIKA RAJANI

Well-fitted leather jacket is a must have piece for every woman. When I saw Malika's designs, I became speechless. I wanted them all! The excellent use of leather, bright colours and edgy details create clothing for stylish modern woman. Especially I love  the way they shaped the figure! I also need to mention the models themselves - they were so beautiful and dressed in Malika's creations they looked so chic!

BKANNE

Khanh Cao created this brand with the main goal to offer the simple clothing with a touch of elegance and a unique style, for an affordable price. She believes that fashion is fun and that thanks to the clothes you can fully express your personality. With these fashion pieces you just can not go wrong! My personal favourite is midi skirt in magenta colour paired with white crop top.

The last two brands I will present you are HATCHI DESIGN and JILLIAN JOY HC about whose I have already wrote my features here and here. You could imagine my excitement when I finally saw their runway debut!

HATCHI DESIGN

Selma Benterki created her own brand because it was always her dream and passion to achieve it. No doubt, she is a big fashion lover and trendsetter, as well! Thanks to her collection which is full of extraordinary pieces, you can enjoy high-end fabrics, feel chic, and comfortable without it costing a fortune. Every design express simplicity with a touch of detail and this connection makes her creation original. Black and white combination, transparency and elegance is why I love this label so much!

JILLIAN JOY HC

Thanks to Jillian Joy Ubando, the founder and fashion designer from Toronto, every model turned into a princess and I felt like in a fairytale. Her bridal wear collection was breathtaking and after this catwalk I have realized that I have never seen so many types of wedding dresses before! Whatever type of woman you are - either you like old school, elegance, fancy design or something more wild, you will get it all! Jillian has golden hands.

I would like to thank to Jodi  and whole team of SFW Montreal and also to all designers and participants for amazing runway show and also for those whole three days full of fashion, friendly atmosphere and amazing moments. I enjoyed it so much! I would also like to wish to all designers and their unique brands all the best in their careers, it was really nice to meet you all!
