Condé Nast editorship decided to bring Vogue magazine also into the United Kingdom during the First World War. The most practical solution was to create a special British edition, which could be produced directly in London. In 1916 the first copies were printed for sale. Even though the early editions tried to replicate the American Vogue exactly, however, its first editor, Elspeth Champcommunal, had bigger ambitions. She wanted Vogue to be "more than a fashion magazine", so she introduced articles on society, culture, sport, health, beauty and different travelogues, as well.
Počas prvej svetovej vojny sa vydavateľstvo Condé Nast rozhodlo priniesť časopis Vogue aj do Veľkej Británie. Najpraktickejším riešením bolo vytvoriť špeciálnu britskú edíciu, ktorá by sa mohla produkovať priamo v Londýne. V roku 1916 boli prvé kópie vytlačené na predaj. Aj keď prvé výtlačky sa snažili replikovať americký Vogue, jeho prvá redaktorka Elspeth Champcommunal mala väčšie ambície. Chcela z Britského Vogue urobiť čosi "viac ako len módny časopis" a tak predstavila články aj o spoločnosti, kultúre, športe, zdraví, kráse a rôzne cestopisy.

How the title of this article also says, British Vogue celebrates its 100 years and, in honor of that fact, a stunning exhibition named Vogue 100: A Century of Style takes place in National Portrait Gallery in London, from February 11th - May 22nd 2016. You have an opportunity to see its vintage prints, experimental fashion shoots, unpublished works and original magazines, which influenced the british fashion a lot.
Ako aj z názvu článku vyplýva, Britský Vogue slávi 100 rokov a na jeho počesť sa koná v National Portrait Gallery v Londýne (presne od 11.2.-22.5.2016) ohromujúca výstava Vogue 100: A Century of Style, na ktorej máte možnosť vidieť vintage výtlačky, experimentálne módne editoriály, nepublikované práce a originálne časopisy, ktoré ovplyvňovali britskú módu.
